Evaluate a Caregiver Program

Hiring a caregiver for your ailing family member is one of the biggest responsibilities you'll ever take on. It's a nerve-wracking experience as well. No one wants to think about the consequences if you do a bad job in choosing a program. Don't let these kinds of fears prevent you from getting your family member needed assistance. While you can't truly evaluate a program until you're taking part in its services, the following tips will help you determine quality before you commit to service and put your loved one at risk:

Look for Educated Staff

Most personal caregivers don't have advanced degrees. In fact, in some states all it takes is a six-week course to get a license. Companies that care for their patients will provide extra training for their caregiver staff. Supervisors should be experienced in providing for patients directly, as well as have a thorough formal education.

Ask about Accountability

The best programs will have unscheduled drop-ins performed by supervisory staff to ensure the patients are being treated with dignity and that their health plans are being expertly followed. These visits should be done regularly enough to ensure any problems that develop are handled quickly. Companies should not shy away from terminating bad employees or getting law enforcement involved in cases of obvious neglect or abuse. A quality company will also have standards for reporting suspected in-family problems.

Ask for References

It's important to speak with both patients and their family members to make sure you get a look at the whole picture. It's important for a business to be able to manage problems on both ends of the spectrum with efficiency and discretion. Issues with caregivers' actions or attitudes should be remedied quickly, even if that means getting a new worker into an environment. Problems with billing or company policy should be resolved in a reasonable amount of time, without the need to repeat the process.

Policies for Handling Common Fears

Turning a loved one over to the hands of a caregiver can be frightening. Worries of harsh treatment, theft, or neglect can keep you from making the best choices for your family. Directly asking a company how they deal with those issues and how they work to prevent them may help. Many companies go beyond basic background checks to prevent client abuse. Other companies stick to the bare minimums and care about little more than getting a direct deposit each month. The way a representative answers your more sensitive questions speaks to their effectiveness in dealing with a range of issues. That makes these conversations an excellent place to start in the evaluation process.

  4. NES Health field is created when energy moves from one point to another, and collapses when the movement of energy ceases. So for a field to exist, it must have energy. Either where does the energy come from that sets up the quantum electrodynamic (QED) body-field?
